2004-2005 Courses at ISNA High School

All credit courses toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) offered at ISNA High School are based on rigorous curriculum expectations and course descriptions and codes of the Ontario Ministry of Education.

  • Compulsory courses at ISNA High School include two credits in Arabic and two credits in Islamic studies.

  • During Grade 9, all ISNA High School students follow a common academic program of eight courses. Courses focus on essential components of a modern education and compulsory requirements for the OSSD.

  • Grade 10 courses build upon completion of Grade 9 courses and assist students in exploring their particular academic strengths and interests. Students again take eight courses.

  • In Grades 11 and 12, students develop an increasingly individual approach to their studies, based on their academic strengths and interests, and in preparation for their post-secondary destinations. Grade 11 students are required to take a minimum of seven courses, including compulsory and elective courses. Grade 12 students must take a minimum of six courses and complete their course requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, while specializing further in preparation for their studies in college or university.

  • Every student must prepare an Annual Education Plan with assistance from parents and the Teacher Advisor. The planning process helps students set goals and review and assess their achievements and progress during the school year.
